Consumer Credit Counseling Service
Consumer credit counseling service was established in 1999 as a reputable resource for helping Americans reduce their debt burden and to help them overcome the debilitating effects of unreasonably high finance charges. Our services and partnerships were put in place to aid consumers in overcoming large amounts of credit card debt and/or avoid foreclosure on their homes.
We achieve this by negotiating with your direct lenders, counseling and educating consumers. In many cases we are able to get your creditors to agree to lower your interest rates and/or principal balance and to consolidate your debt into one payment that you can afford. We also work with you to establish a budget and a financial plan that will help you get out of debt years sooner than you ever thought possible.
Q. Will I be totally debt free when I'm done?
This program is focused on dealing with only unsecured debts (credit cards, medical bills, unsecured personal loans like payday loans). We don't generally help you with debt that is secured by collateral (such as mortgages or auto loans), however we can suggest mortgage loan modification programs to help your with that. After completing the program, however, the money that you are no longer paying towards your unsecured creditors and their typically high interest rates can be used to pay down secured debts, as well as to save for your financial future.
Q. Could I negotiate on my own debt reduction?
Yes, you can also do your own taxes and repair your own car, but most people choose to seek help. Most people prefer to leave something this important to experienced people who earn their livelihood as specialists in those lines of work. Our team of consumer credit counseling specialists has only one job - negotiating reductions on our client’s debt principle and interest. Our knowledge and experience allows us to routinely get our clients significant reductions in their debt principle and consolidate their debt into one low payment. In short, trust an expert to counsel you through this crucial process.
Q. Will I receive phone calls from collectors?
There are federal and state laws designed to protect you from creditor harassment, but not all companies follow the rules. The goal is to get your creditors to call us and not you when they want to ask for money, and we will work to minimize the amount of calls that get through to you. In addition, your credit counselor will work with you to make sure violators of collection laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) are appropriately handled.
